The listings appear geographically and there will only ever be one company listed from any given town or city. Therefore, not only are you ensuring that your company is the one which will appear for your city, but you are also ensuring that your competitors do not.
Your listing lasts for one year and you will always have the option to renew before your competitors are given the opportunity.
